The patterning on his pants is lovely, as well. : )
Now, uh, what is the project and who is Vishnu? D8 What does the calf/cow mean?
What happens in the story is that Krishna (the kid with the cow), who is an avatar of Vishnu (this four-armed fellow here) is telling a warrior named Arjuna about the ways to enlightenment and to be one with God.
Vishnu is essentially God, and an aspect of God, and Krishna is kind of like Jesus, only blue and a cow-herd instead of a shepherd. The calf/cow is a sacred animal in Hinduism, and Krishna's protected animal (along with peacocks and sometimes deer.)
The project is to create three illustrations based on the Bhagavad-Gita, and the illustrations of Vishnu and Krishna are the first two. The third one will be all text, just me making sanskrit passages of the Gita look pretty on paper. And it's due Monday.
Did that clear it up some?
